Orbeez

If you fill a bucket with orbeez and pour molten metal into it, it creates a fun branching pattern where the interstitial space is filled by metal. The orbeez, being mostly water, resist the metal and can be cleaned out after the fact, leaving a sculpture only trypophobes could hate.

Silver Shift Knob

I wanted a custom shift knob for my Miata. I used CAD to make a STL of what I wanted, then 3D printed it. I used sand casting to make a mould and then poured silver into it. Cleaned the casting up on the belt sander, drilled and tapped a matching hole, and installed. Just gets hot in the summer.
